Striped pickguard?

Hi guys (and ladies). The big manufacturers sometimes put a white stripe around the perimeter of the pickguard. Do any of you know how they do it? Can it be done by a garage builder? Thanks for being here....

I would guess that the are laminated one layer of black and one layer of white. Then they chamfer (sp) the edge so that the white layer shows.

Some plastic archtop guards are bound with white plastic. I imagine that could have been done on the J200 above, as well. Hard to tell on low-res photos.

Mike, that is a white pickguard under the tortoise pickguard. Just as Paul described.

Hi Mike,
Yes,it looks like a white and black layer under the tortise which is then beveled-same as on a lot of Gibson electric guitars.
The same tecnique can be used around the headstock.
Suppliers sell the plastic already laminated in many configurations.
I use a bevel bearing bit,but a file works just as well
